Can a misdemeanor be exsponged off my record??

I have two assult charges on my record. It is
impacting me getting a job and having a place to live.
I been out of work for almost nine months. Can this
be done??

In VA, an expungement is only available if there has been an acquittal, nolle prosequi, dismissal, absolute pardon, or an individual's name was used in error; a conviction cannot be removed.
