As a 16 year old male, is it illegal to date an 18 year old female?

I’m 16 And a guy and I’m dating an
18 year old female. We both work
at Mcdonalds and she’s afraid she
could get fired for dating a minor
because she’s a girl. We started
dating about two weeks after she
turned 18. Can my boss fire her
for that? We’ve only let a few
people know just in case.

First of all, the "age of consent" in IA is 16. This is the age at which a person can legally consent to sexual relations. Therefore, it is legal for a 16 year old can be intimate with an 18 year old. Secondly, as regards your employer, since most work relationships are "at will" an employee can be fired for any reason or no reason at all, with or without notice. This unless an employment contract or union agreement provides otherwise. Also, such action must not constitute any form of legally actionable discrimination.
