Are employers required to post all job openings? Can they search for people to fill positions solely through word of mouth?

Employers in private jobs do not have to post jobs internally. If you feel you were discriminated, you need to speak with your state's Dept of Labor and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Usually only wherein there is a collective bargaining unit (government jobs, union jobs) does an employer have to post a position internally before going outside the office.
