2 of us hired at same time she gets 14 hrs per week i get 6

I was hired as part time at the
same time another was hired. She
gets 14 hrs per week i get 6. She
also works for someone else if they
need day off. What can i do?

Unless you were guaranteed a certain amount of hours, for example in a union agreement or employment contract, then your employer can schedule you for as many hours as it deems appropriate. The fact is that most work relationshoips are "at will" which means that a company can set the conditions of the workplace much as it sees fit. That is absent some form of legally actionable discrimination. So as long as your receiving fewer hours is not due to your race, religion, disability, age (over 40), national origin, etc. then it is legal. Bottom line, not all employees need be treated the same or even fairly (excepting discrimnation as explained above).
