If you are concerned with having a misdemeanor charge on your record, you have the option to apply to have the matter sealed.  In Massachusetts, you can petition the board of probation to seal your entire record if a certain time has ellapsed since the incident and if you have not had any other matters since the incident.  If you do not meet the requirements set by the Board of Probation, you can petition the individual court to seal the matter.
