Who would be liable for recreational hockey injuries?
Question Details:
We are 20 adults, and 5 teenagers playing recreational hockey at a public rink. We have weekly schedules. The league have a Facebook page. Few days ago a coach showed up with 10 children from 7 to 10 years old. The coach insisted for his kids to play with us. We stopped the game immediately. If a kids got injured by one of us ( stick in the head, puck, broken arms, etc). Who would be liable - the coach, the player, any adults, the Facebook administrators, the city, etc ? How should we handle that to stay out of trouble?
You can always refuse to play. Being 7-10 years old, these children probably cannot make decisions by themselves. The coach should not let them play with adults for fear of injuries. Just do not play with them.
