Question Details: My friend was charged with giving alcohol to a minor last year and got off with a.w.p. and payed a fine. Now a couple days ago he was arrested september 19 at 11:30pm and charged with CONTRIBUTE TO DELINQ/MINOR a misdemeanor then released that morning at 6:30. He was just going to have go to court sometime in October for it. BUT for some reason the Sheriffs came and arrested him at 1:37am on September 23 for UNLAWFUL SEXUAL that's the felony. First his bail was $50,000 then No Bail and now 75,000. Please help. Whats going to happen.?
He will need to appear in court. He can either hire a private attorney or request representation from the public defender's office. Just because he has been arrested or charged does not mean that he committed a crime or will spend substantial time in jail. Sometimes false allegations are made, and he will have the opportunity to challenge the party that is making these allegations against him.

We don't know what is going to happen. We don't know what else his criminal history is, any priors, the terms of any probation, parole, bail, etc. We don't serve as his counsel and therefore cannot render legal counsel.
He needs to consult with his public defender or he needs to have a private criminal defense counsel represent him. He is in big trouble -- all or most with minors. Try www.attorneypages.com and check his or her record at www.calbar.ca.gov under attorney search.
