Question: Real Estate - Minnesota

Asked on 11/4/2009
What would be an acceptable time frame in which a Judge would respond to a lawyers request for a meeting?
My husband and I settled a law suit against a construction and insurance company concerning faulty work done on our home. The settlement gave us $30,000 to rebuild the roof on our home. There was a time frame for completion set by the Judge of April 1, 2009. The work on the roof is still not completed and we have not been successful in getting the person doing the work to set an absolute finish date. Repeated requests to our attorney for a meeting with the Judge after a 09/29/09 letter was sent have been fruitless. Can we contact the Judge or how long should we wait to hear from him?

The letter was dated last Thursday, and it's Tuesday.  The letter might not have reached the lawyer's desk until yesterday, and he might not even have read it yet, if he's in the middle of a trial or if he's on vacation.  I'm not sure from your question whether the letter went to the judge from your lawyer, or from your lawyer to the judge, but I'd give you the same answer, either way.

If you have a lawyer in a pending case, you should absolutely not contact the judge directly in any way.  It's improper, and all you will succeed in doing is at least annoying both the judge and your lawyer.
