What is an appropriate settlement when a pedestrian is struck by an automobile?

I was recently struck by an automobile after exiting a shuttle bus atLAX (Los Angeles Airport). The driver refused to exit the vehicle, but a witness came forward (inside the terminal) and pointed him out. I then reported the accident to airport security and the police came and took down all of the information (driver, witness, and myself). Now, my back is still giving me problems (I'm 55 years old). I've been off work for about 2 weeksand yesterday the driver's insurance company asked if I was ready to "settle". What should I do? Should I speak with a personal injury attorney? In Tarzana, CA.
