What is the time limitation for a subcontractor to invoice a general contractor for services performed?

Question Details: A sub contractor failed to invoice me for services performed as long as 11 years ago ( the most recent work was 5 years ago), even after my continuous nagging. He has now sent me invoice. Am I legally bound to pay (he has a history of doing this with other businesses).

I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  the statute of limitations in most states for breach of contract/failure to pay for services is 6-7 years.  The statue of limitations on this subcontractor's claim began to run on the day that you became in default for not paying (usually 30 days after the work was performed).  Because the sub contractor failed to invoice you, he is not now allowed to claim that the debt is still due.  the statute of limitations will bar his claims and you can tell the subcontractor that.  if you are sued, contact a lawyer to help you assert this defense in court.
