What is the Landlord required to do if a pet odor is discovered after we just signed a lease and moved in?
Question Details: We signed a lease June 26th and started smelling a foul pet odor around the middle of July. Come to find out the owners have treated the carpets several times themselves and had a professional in to clean them with special pet odor treatment. The house stinks and is getting worse. What should the Landlord be required to do?
I am a licensed MO attorney. Ordinarily, the landlord is required to furnish property conforming both to local code and to the contract requirements. However, a tenant is assumed to accept the property if it conforms to code and contract, and if the tenant had an opportunity to inspect the property. I need more information. Feel free to email me at sean@roadlawyer.net to discuss this further.
