Question Details: My car has $8000 damage, retail value according to NADA is $5500 and drivers' insurance company wants to settle at $3100. Should I involve an attorney or contaqct insurance comissioner?
Where does the insurance company get the $3100 figure? You can negotiate with them if you can support the $5500 figure with ads from the internet, Kelly Blue Book and used car dealers' quotes for the same year, make and model in the same condition with similar accessories. It would be better to negotiate something inbetween than to give some of the money to a lawyer and wind up with less than you want anyway.
