What happened if I gave my credit card to a merchant and several weeks later, they ran additional transactions on my credit card without my permission or knowledge?
Question Details: The merchant is claiming that the additional transactions are related to the first but I know personally that I did not agree to any additional charges when handing over my credit card for the first transaction. During the credit card dispute process, they provided "evidence" that I agreed to additional charges in the form of a terms of service. However, they never gave that to me and I never signed it (also, their credit card receipts do not have my signature). Can I sue them for unauthorized transactions or fraud? Are there any specific laws/acts on this or is it a gray area?
Appeal through your credit card and also go to the police and ask for charges to be pressed against them.
You should immediately contact your credit card company about the matter that you have written about to contest the unauthorized and illegal charge that you have written about. Given an adequate explanation by you the credit card charge should not end up going through.
