A person must have ownership in the  real estate to get a mortgage so a deed will need to be prepared and signed by the current owner to your relative.  That can be done pretty quickly.  It will help to have the last deed.  The mortgage process will depend upon the bank which could take several weeks or longer.  You should get some legal advice before you transfer the property so that you understand your rights.  I can assist you on this.

This is nearly an irreversible action.  There better be a good reason.

A deed is merely a legal document that transfers what ever ownership you have to the other person.  Consult an attorney before you do this.

A mortgage now a days can take time.
