What do I do about a Payday Loan Company coming after me legally?

Question Details: /I/ have a payday loan company that did not give me notice or time to respond to a debt that I owe. I'm not disputing the debt, but They said that I had untill today on 9/28/09 at 2pm to pay it back. Now I was not told about this dispute untill today. I asked if we could make a payment plan, but they refused. Thier lawyer was rude and I still dont know what I can do to solve this situation. I thought they are supposed to give you notice if something leagal is invovled? Please help!!!! And can they file anything against me criminally?

Theoretically they could file a police report for fraud or theft.  But it is unlikely that any police officer or DA would take it seriously, unless there are major facts that I do not know.  More likely they will sue you in small claims court.  Probably the best thing to do is to pay what ever you can and if they refuse to accept your money keep a record of it.
