What deals with the punishment of people convicted of crimes?

I am not admitted in Indiana and I am not sure why this question is listed under "Insurance Law."
I also feel like I am missing something, but the Penal Laws are statutes that define criminal offenses and specify corresponding fines and punishment. The Penal Laws are covered under Criminal Law. Does that make sense here to you? Or do you mean what branch of the legal system deals with people convicted of crimes? Like penitentiaries and probation?
