Although Missouri does not have a specific statute on emancipation, a juvenile can still petition a court to be declared emancipated. Feel free to email me at sean@roadllawyer.net or call me at 913 441 5025 if you want to discuss this.

You can apply for "emancipation". Emancipation refers to the point at which a child is free from parental control. It occurs when the child's parents no longer perform their parental duties and surrender their rights to the care, custody and earnings of their minor child.
Missouri does not have an emancipation status. A minor who is not a victim of neglect and/or abuse, may apply for early emancipation if he/she is at least 16. If it is a DFS matter, the issue will be handled according to juvenile law guidelines. If it is a voluntary request the minor must present proof they are able to live without adult involvement. Meaning able to earn enough income to pay for housing, food, clothing, medical care, and if applicable their continuing education, and so forth. The minor will also be responsible for paying filing fees and other court costs.
