What can be done to someone that hits my car, has no insurance and leave the scene?

Question Details: I was side swiped on my way to the emergency room. The guy had no insurance and left the accident. My insurance has uninsured motorist so I'm having to pay the deductible to get my car fixed. Is there something that can be done to the driver?

Fleeing the scene of an accident is usually a crime, and being an accident is worth points on his license--if you know who it is, you can report him to the police.

You could sue him in small claims court for your deductible (if, after paying your small claims court filing fees, it's worth it to you).
