Question: Criminal Defense - North Carolina

Asked on 11/3/2009

What are the charges for filing a false police report in SC?

I have a warrant for my arrest in SC and I live in NC; it is for falsifying a police report. Can they come to NC and arrest me? I will turn myself in. I just want to know what the charges are and if I will have to stay in jail.

The charges for filing a false police report are just that -- filing a false report.  However, in order to know exactly what charges are in your warrant, it will be necessary for someone to take a look at the actual warrant.  I suggest consulting with a South Carolina attorney, who will be able to obtain more information about your charges, and who will also be able to arrange for your peaceful surrender, make arrangements for you to post bond -- or make bond arguments on your behalf, and begin to develop a strategy to defend these charges.  By taking these steps you will minimize your criminal liability and begin to work towards a favorable resolution to this matter.  Good luck.
