What are my right's as a tenant against a really noisy and disgusting neighbor.
Question Details: Ok i got a really obnoxious neighbor for one he crank's his stereo and has been told to keep it down at night and during the day by myself and the property manager and he seem's to ignore the call's from him and as of late he found out i complained a few time's and he deficated on my side of the building in front of my apartment door .The property manager told me i can't or shouldnt call the cop's because it will make him look bad what can be done?
Don't put up with that "stuff," literally, to protect your property manager. If you saw the fellow make that deposit, or you have a witness willing to testify (or if he was stupid enough to brag or taunt you about it), I'd go right ahead and call the police. It's disgusting, unhealthy and illegal.
I'd recommend that you talk to a local attorney who does landlord-tenant law. It sounds to me as if your right, under your lease (whether written or not, and if the provision isn't in the writing the law will supply it), to the "quiet enjoyment" of your home has been breached. You might be able to withhold your rent, and wait until the landlord takes you to court, when you can give the court the money and ask the judge to decide how much of a rent discount you're entitled to for this. If you can do that, I can all but guarantee that your obnoxious neighbor will get a lot less slack from the landlord.
