What are my consequences going to be for a 1st offense DWI?

Under the sentencing statutes of most states in this country for a first time conviction of a person driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, the penalties are:

1. suspension of your driving privileges except to and from work for six months;

2. a fine of $2,000 or so;

3. increased premiums on one's auto insurance;

4. a criminal record for life.
