What is an appropriate legal fee for handling a disability claim?

Question Details:

How much would the standard fee be for legal assistance on a disability claim? We have looked at a service who will charge us 25% of the backpay. My husband feels this is too much. Before we sign any paperwork, I want to know if this is close to standard or shall we look elsewhere.

This is within the range of fees that you will find out there.  Just make sure that you pick a firm that specializes in this type of case.  I know from personal experience that you want a firm that does this on a regular basis.  The rules are technical and tedious.  An experienced legal group will be worth every penny.  They will arrange for obtaining medical records and doctors' statements, as well as presenting them in the best light to support your case.  Just be sure to get them all of the information that they request of you as soon as you can; this will help move the case along.

Just be aware, no matter who represents you, it will still take time.  Possibly a year or more, so be patient.

Best of luck.
