What to do if we have a verbal lease and have been living here for almost a year but now we have 2 days to get out?
Question Details: Our landlord is selling the apartment/home where we liv, and we have only gotten a paper stating so now. There is o date on this paper and my signature is signed at the bottom though I did not receive any papers or notices. This note says that he is selling this place for an undisclosed amount of money to so and so, and we have to vacate the property by 12:00 am 2 days from now. Is this legally right? Can they only give us 2 days to get out and if not what should I do?
Under the laws of all states in this country a landlord is required to give his or her tenant at least thirty (30) days written notice of the termination of the lease if applicable. Since you are on a verbal lease with your landlord, the law implies that you are on a month-to-month lease.
From what you have written, your landlord MUST give you at least thirty (30) days written notice to move out of the rental.
