We are franchise owners and sublease our building from the corporate office. The owner of the building keeps harassing us. Do we have any recourse?
Question Details:
We sublease our building from the corporate franchise office. The owner of the building keeps coming to the building and making threats and being generally abusive. Do we have the right to forbid him access to the property or press harassment charges? Or, do we have to deal with it because he owns the building?
Your lease should specify what the landlord's right of entry is. However, if it does not, generally speaking he/she must get permission before entering. Since you lease the premises you have the right of possession not the landlord.
