If you have a copy of the terms of the loan then read it carefully.  But it is my understanding that the Veterans Administration does require any significant problems with the property to be repaired before closing. What you need to find out is what they mean significant to be.  There is a VA program help center - vamortgagecenter.com - and you should contact them for a list of requirements.  Good luck.
