How to evict a squatter?

Question Details:

My renter moved out. Her daughter who had been "visiting" was there when she moved out. Now the daughter is still there. We have no rental agreement with her, and she is avoiding contact with us. This is an apartment within my own home, so I reallywant her out. I know what the procedure is for someone that I have an agreement with, but don't know the procedure for getting rid of someone that I never gave permission to be there in the first place.

I  am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  A squater may be easily removed from property once the landlord decides that the squater no longer has the right to live at the property.  what you need to do is hire a lawyer to have a notice to quit served on the squater. t he squater will have 5 days to move out. if the squatter fails to move out, the lawyer will file a summary process action to have a court enter an order to remove the squatter as a matter of law.  while you may do this yoursel, it pays to have a lawyer do this so that the documents are done right the first time as the judge will favor the tenant you are kicking out on the street.
