utilities shut off.
Question Details: my utilities have been turned of i owe 1400.00 i am going to file bankruptcy this week, when i file does the electric.gas company have to reconnect my service. they have said no and want 1/2 to turn on.

I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law. The gas company is not required by law to provide you service at your house, especially if you are not paying. I suggest that you find a way to make a payment to the gas company to get them to turn the service on. Otherwise, there is nothing you can do to get the services. Can you borrow the money from a friend or family?
