Under-employment claim

Question Details:

I have worked for a company for over 9 years. Recently, I was ill and out of work for 2 months straight, which caused me to have to move. When I went to transfer to a store that I could travel to from my new residence, I found out that no one had any full-time openings and that I had to become part-time or work midnights. My doctors said "NO" to this. So now I work at a lower wage, as well as fewer hours and my insurance premiums have gone up. Would I qualify for under-employment or some other aid?

There is no underemployment insurance.  If you are fired (and not for cause), you could file for unemployment; if while on unemployment, you get a part time job that pays a small amount, you'd still be able to collect some unemployment, though your earnings would function as at least a partial offset against them.  However, if you are still at the same employer and they cut your hours or salary, there is no sort of insurance to file for.
