Traded my car into a dealership and it was in an accident, now I am being sued what do I do?

Question Details:

I traded in my car for a newer car at a dealership. A few months later the car I traded in was in an accident. Now I am being sued as the owner of the vehicle but I am not the owner, I traded it in months before the accident. It does not seem right that I can be sued for $25,000+ when the dealership took ownership of the car and then evidently sold it to someone who crashed it.

Call your insurance company. If you are not covered then you will need to retain an attorney to defend the suit, and file a cross-complaint for indemnity and damages against the car dealership.
