If I ook a business to small claims court but it did not show up at appointed court date, do I automatically win the case?

Was there a trial?  What was the purpose of the appointed court date?  Generally, the rule is that if you sue someone, and you served them with proper notice of the lawsuit, and they did not show up or otherwise respond to your complaint, then you can obtain a default judgment against them and start collections efforts.
