Is the car abandoned by a former tenant who left or was evicted?  A friend who asked you to hold it?  Or someone else with a different fact pattern?   How it came to be in your driveway will have an impact on how you should handle the matter.

There is no way you can legally gain title to the car without taking steps to insure that you will not be sued for conversion of property.  Is it still registered and have plates? If someone continues to be paying for the registration then it may not be considered abandoned under the law.

Abandoned prperty in Massacheusetts seems to be dealt with by the Treasurer for the Department of State: 1-888-344-MASS.  Mostly they seem to deal with abandonement of money and securities but they may deal with personal property or be able to direct you to someone who can help.
