Divorce - division of marital property

Question Details:

I am going through a divorce right now. Together for 6, married for 2. A week before I found out my wife and i spent around $5,500 on new living room set and T.V. She took everything because it was paid by her school loans. I have taken out around $10,000 in school loans to pay for bills and fixing our cars. Do I have a fighting chance of getting half the stuff. Every gift anything we got she took and is telling me I should not contest I would be wasting my time; I won't get everything. I don't really have money for a lawyer right now. and I don't know whether to contest or let it go. t

I don't think you should let it go.  She can't take all the goods and leave you with all the bills;  I don't care how good her lawyer is, it can't possibly come out as badly as if you simply let her take what she wants and walk away.  The system doesn't work like that.

Collect and protect all the financial records, for the entire marriage and for both of you, that you can get your hands on, because you will need that information, and that proof of the facts.
