Mom should hire a lawyer and sue Son for fraud, because that's exactly what he committed, having her sign a deed when he told her it was for something else.  And his demand that she pay the mortgage, because he owns the property, is nothing short of outrageous.

Whether or not this leads to a way for Mom to keep the house, I don't know.  But Son should be put out, on the seat of his pants, as soon as it can be arranged.
