Question Details: My son broke his collar bone on Aug. 17, I have been unemployed since March 6, severance ended May 29th including medical benefits. At time of treatment, got information for financial aid. submitted paper work for financial aid and have continual request for more information. Was on unemployment until Oct. 17. We had to move for new job, sold house Sept. 11, moved into new house at new work location on Oct. 7. Basically, Hospital is being incredibly painful (paper work) about any possible assistance. Not sure what can be done about this.
Legally, it sounds like you are pursuing the avenues you should be, and there may not be much more you can do but persevere and wade through the red tape, paperwork, and obstacles.
A non-legal suggestion: does your community news outlet(s)--newspaper(s), websites, local TV station, etc.--have some sort of consumer advocate feature or function? If it does and you go to them, the bad press may be enough to get the hospital to be more helpful and generous. I am writing from Northern NJ, and our local paper, the Star Ledger has a feature like that called "Bamboozled" that seems to be very effective in helping people when they are the victims of not just fraud, but even simply bureacratic inertia and hard-heartedness by large institutions.

Are you a lawyer?
