Should I sue my the company I work for if my supervisor is harassing me and I don't feel comfortable returning to my workplace?
Question Details: My supervisor is sexually verbally harassing me. He tells me I'm beautiful and tells me that he's missed me when he's gone. He asked me how I was doing and I said I'm tired; he then said maybe you and your boyfriend uh uh last night. He then looked me up and down looking at my butt and told me that I confuse his heart and his brain and that he should look at me like I'm his daughter but he doesn't. The company is investigating situation but I feel scared to return to work or being around any man because what he has said to me. The company asked me what I think should be the resolution. Do I have a lawsuit?
You probably do not have a good lawsuit at this point because it sounds like the company is doing everything they should be doing. They are asking you for a resolution. I think you should consider whether there is any way you can continue with the company but not work for him. Also, he needs to be told his behavior is unacceptable and given some sexual harassment training. Maybe everyone at your company should receive this training. If the only acceptable resolution is that he get fired, then tell the company that. If they refuse, and if the behavior continues, then you probably do have a good lawsuit. But it is unreasonable for you to be afraid of being around any man. If you really feel this way, you need to go see someone to get help with your irrational fear. Ask the company to pay for this.
