Accussed of shoplifting

Question Details:

I have been charged with a shoplifting charge I went into a store with my sister-in-law and she stole from the store. I was not even on the same aisle with her.  Spent six days in jail and was released. How can I defend against this charge?  If convicted, how long will it stay on my record?

Each cases needs to be defended differently. Since she did it and you were not with her, let the lawyer get the police and store report and go from there. This will always be on your record unless it can be expunged.

Sounds like you should never have been arrested. You should be found not guilty, at which point you may have a law suit. but you first must be found not guilty. will your sister-in-law testify you had no idea what she was doing?
