What can the sheriff due if I don't pay my wage garnishemnt?

Question Details:

I let debt collection go due to having death in family and other overwhelming issues. Now the credit card company has received a judgement against me to garnish my wages. The county's sheriff office will be handling the collection of the 10% garnishment. The company's law collection firm won't work with me. Do they have to? And can I be arrested if I don't make these payments? I did make a payment but not the 10%. Can employer get in trouble if they don'tgarnish? I am so terrified. I am ill with a blood disorder the doctors are still testing me for and my kids need the money for their tuition.

The whole point of a garnishment is that you aren't making the payments, the creditor is getting that 10% of your pay before you ever see it.  A garnishment is a court order, and if your employer doesn't do it, they will be in contempt of court.

The creditor is under no obligation to work with you, not that they ever were.  Now that they have the judgment, and the garnishment order, there is no benefit to them, from working with you.  You're going to have to find a way to get through this until the debt is paid.
