What is the legality of a salary cap?
Question Details:
WE HAD OUR SALARY "CAPPED" A COUPLE YEARS AGO. WE GET A LUMP SUM CHECK IN OCTOBER FOR OUR RAISE. BECAUSE OF INFLATION - GAS PRICES, FOOD, ETC. WE ARE NOT GETTING A FAIR INCREASE. WE ARE STILL WORKING AT THE SAME SALARY AS A COUPLE YEARS AGO. WE GET OUR INCREASE BASED ON OUR CURRENT SALARY SO WE WILL NEVER BE MAKING MORE MONEY. THE COST OF EVERYTHING IS GOING UP BUT WE'RE STILL MAKING THE SAME WAGES. HOW OFTEN DO WE NEED TO BE REVIEWED?
how about bringing in a union?
If you are working for a private employer (i.e. not the state of federal government or an agency of the state of federal government), then your employer reserves the right to determine your wages. Your employer is required to comply with the minimum wage standards; however, there is no requirement that the employer give wage increases each and every year to keep up with inflation. Indeed, many employers in the past few years have not increased wages at all due to the economy and the problems that are going on in each of the respective industries. If you are not happy with your job, you have the choice to leave. I suggest looking for a new job or trying to work a second job.
