Can I sell ex-roommate's belongings as reimbursement for past unpaid rent?

Question Details:

I had a roommate that I thought I could trust, so I did not have anything put in writing. She moved into my home in December and lost her job shortly after. We agreed that she would pay me at a later date.  She moved out in August. She has left her stuff in my shed and has not come to get anything; she has said that she has no money to pay me. Can I sell her stuff to get my money back? What can I legally do?

Send her demand for money. Send her list of "stuff" she left. Put it in writing. Then wait for 30 days and then sell her stuff. Do not sell without notice to her.
