Question Details: My mother passed away and I was not notified I had to read it in the newspaper.I and her half sisters had her cremated.I became the executor of her estate she died in testate and I being her sole heir received this appointment .I then found that all her belongings had been taken from her residence as well as a money deposit paid to one of the sisters claiming to be the executor.I made claim on her Renters Policy for contents and provided a police report,at this time the police dept. said it would be a Civil matter and they were going to drop the case on there part .
I'm not sure what your question is, here. I'd suggest that you talk to an attorney, about your mother's estate and the insurance claim.
The biggest problem here might be that you have learned about everything second-hand. You'll need some of the people who gave you their first-hand information to do the same for the public record, and that isn't always easy. That's why the police aren't pursuing this, because they know that proving a case like this beyond a reasonable doubt, in criminal court, is extremely difficult. But proving it in civil court, which only has to be a "preponderance of the evidence," meaning more likely than not, in the jury or judge's opinion, might still be very possible, with the right lawyer.
