Under the laws of all states in this country, if a person's stored property is going to be auctioned off due to late payments, the owner of the property in storage is required to be given written notice of the intended auction of his or her property where also the notice of the auction is placed in the local newspaper and ran for a certain period of time.

In the situation that you have written about, written notification of the property you own or owned that was to be auctioned was required to be sent to you. Whether or not you received the notice is another issue.
