RAFFLE MY HOUSE

Question Details: Can someone tell me how I can raffle my house in NJ. I cannot find a real estate lawyer who knows how to do this. Any suggestions? How much of the profit has to go to charity? What about paying taxes? Thanks

New Jersey, like most other states, prohibits anyone or any company except a nonprofit or an approved exemption from conducting a house raffle.  If you are thinking of conducting a house raffle to unload your house you have to work with a nonprofit organization and transfer ownership of the house to them.  The nonprofit can then raffle off your house, and you'll get a tax deduction - not cash.

Nonprofit, tax-exempt entities typically are churches, schools, civic organizations, or related support groups; and nonprofit organizations qualified under Section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code.
