proof of probate

Question Details: my mother has been trying to get the leftover estate from my grandfather...her mother is also deceased and there was no will but they contacted her about it,but now they say they need proof of probate documents...what does that mean and how does she get it? shes already sent death certificates and other documents that they've requested...this has been going ton since may of 2009 and my grandfather dies in 2002

Not enough facts to answer your question, but if there is or was a probate estate there would at some time be an order of the Probate Court known as an Order of Distribution directing the assets in the estate to go to the beneficiaries.  You will need a probate attorney to work this out if there is an estate, and the attorney who handled the estate is the place to start from.
