Question Details: Need proof of marriage to continue my husbands health insurance under my N.Y. coverage. He lives in an assisted living facility in N.J. paid for by a trust and SSD. I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  Obtaining a copy of your marriage license/contract should be quite simple.  the town hall should have copies of you marriage certificate on file in the state that you were married.  I suggest contacting the clerk in the town that you got married and starting from there.  if you do not have any luck, contact the priest or rabbi that married you if they are still alive or the chuch/synogog/entity that performed the ceramony.
