How to distribute assets for son whose only asset was a 2002 van but owes $3000 to credit card company.

Question Details:

My son died and left a 2002 van as his only asset. He did owe a credit card company $3000.00. If I transfer title and sell the van am I obligated to give the money to the credit card company? Can I claim funeral expenses against the van sale and If he has a tax refund what must I do with that.? He was not married and did not own any property or have insurance or any kind of savings.
