Question Details: I have a possesion charge in NJ and I'm from MA, its was only a ziplock bag of marijuana less den 1 gram, i was driving through NJ and was stopped in MA the laws for marijuana are different from NJ, should I be worried enough to get a lawyer or should i just represent myself

Yes. You should hire a lawyer. While a small amount of marijuana may not land you in jail in New Jersey, the offense might have collateral consequences (like loss of driving license priviledges) that you will may be able negotiate your way around on your own. A lawyer knoweldegable in the local rules and practices can help you preserve your record ( as best as is possible) and generally minimize consequences.
