If my business transports clients in my car, can I have them sign waives releasing me from any liability in the event of an accident?

I know I can purchase an expensive insurance through my auto insurance agent. I would like to avoid that expense if possible.

The problem with the waiver is that it might not hold up in court.  If your state has a mandatory requirement of auto insurance, the waiver will not hold up in court.

If a court rules that the waiver is invalid, then the injured passengers would sue your business and that would be very costly.  In addition to the medical bills and wage loss, an injured passenger would also recover compensation for pain and suffering, an amount far beyond the medical bills depending on the injuries that were sustained.
