What to do if my ex owes me approximately $11,000 in past due child support?

Question Details: His property is about to be auctioned for tax default. Can I pay his back taxes and place my own let lien on the property? The property is abandoned and child support already has a lien in place. He refuses to sign over the title even though I offered to drop all past due child support.

You can go after any $$ he has in a bank accout with a bank levy. Or you can garnish his wages.

Contact your county department of child support services (DCSS). They will help you for free.

I suggest that before you reach any agreement with your "ex" that you consult with a family law attorney to discuss what your legal options and recourse are and the safest and most secure way to get the $11,000 owed in past due child support. Agreeing to take title to the subject property may do you more harm than good in that the equity in the property may be less than what is owed on the loan assuming there is one.
