My wife had a slip and fall accident one year ago in a supermarket which resulted in a permanent injury.  Can we get long term $$$?

Question Details:

My wife's injuries have kept her in bed for a year. Weekly doctors visits and tons of physical therapy. She has a neurogenic bladder, ligament damage in one knee. Pelvic pain and nerve damage. Our legit medical bills exceed $100k. She is 49 and just recovered from breast cancer. What can we expect as a ball park settlement? Can we get long term medical bills taken care of? We are going to trial and not accept a settlement. Also if we do not like the jury's decision can we appeal to a higher court?

It is not possible to give a ballpark settlement figure without reviewing the file; however, since the medical bills exceed $100,000, your settlement should not only cover the medical bills, but provide additional compensation for pain and suffering.  As for long-term care, the settlement should include compensation based on an estimate of future costs.  You can appeal if the jury's decision is unfavorable; if the jury rules in your favor, there wouldn't be a legitimate reason to appeal.
