What to do with a check made payable to my mother's estate?
Question Details: My mother left everything in her estate POD and in joint tenancy. The only thing left is a check I got from CNA insurance refunding her $917 for a long term care policy. It is made out to "The Estate of (my mother)". I can't cash this thing and CNA has not been helpful. The estate was over 100k so I can't use a small estate affidavit. Attorney and probate fees seem to make it impossible to anything except eat the loss. Any solution?

Put the check in deposit via an atm and the check may clear your mother's account. Otherwise you will be required to file an affidavit as to your identity with insurance company, providing them with appropriate ID and death certificate of your mother.
